![]() We highly recommend this hotel if you’re interested in a real Mexican holiday.… Many of the staff remember us and always have a warm welcome. We come every year-yes, even during Covid in November 2020–and love it here. It’s also close to the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary which we visit every year since it opened. It’s a more authentic Mexican experience than being at an all inclusive resort. We could walk to great shops like Mexicarte and Lamani as well as restaurants like Turtle Bay cafe and La Taverna. We found the beds to be super comfortable and the entire place very quiet. There is also a small fridge and a microwave and coffee maker in the kitchenette. Water is also provided which is a huge plus. The rooms are clean, have plenty of storage and have great AC. It’s wonderful to sit out on the balcony at night and listen to the waves or have coffee in the morning viewing the beach. Recently we spent four nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the view, the breakfasts at Lol Ha and the beach experience. This is the first time I’ve written a review, however. Over the years we’ve stayed in all types of rooms, including the casitas and have always enjoyed our stay and appreciated the warm friendly staff. We have been coming to Akumal Caribe long before Trip Advisor existed and long before the massive AI resorts came in and irresponsible tourists changed everything about the turtle encounters. The actual swimming off the beach was hindered while we were there by a high wind and resultant seaweed blown in as well as some underwater rocks, but we persevered and conditions improved.… This culminated in entering a lagoon, and well equipped and monitored by the crew, swam for 45 minutes observing many beautiful tropical fish. We were a little put off by this incessant activity, but contracted with one of the boats' crews moored at the beach to make an excursion north along the shore. Many go out to the reef to observe these creatures using a life jacket and snorkel equipment. There is a beautiful beach, shared with several other resorts, and a very active program from the Diving Center with guides, boats and equipment to observe the turtles. The grounds are blessed with many large palms which provide shade, and there is a staff person whose sole job is to carry lounge chairs where ever you wish. The3re are only 21 rooms in the hotel and addition "casitas" on the grounds, which also contain a dining building, and addition facilities on the site. The service was swift, gracious and always available although the reception desk was some distance from the hotel. We were very pleased with out experience at the Caribe. After that and a long walk on the beach I slept peacefully in my quiet room. A sort walk away there are several restaurants, souvenir shops and a few art galleries. All of the men at he reception desk were really friendly, answered all my questions and knew the area. Later in the afternoon I moved to the pool which was always clean. After the included free breakfast, I sat on the beach all day, more bliss. The large container of purified water was replaced any time I asked. There were two of us and we both had lots of room for our belongings. The bed was comfortable, there were plenty of clean towels, and space to relax. The in room coffee maker provided added even more bliss. I stayed in a top floor room and sat on the balcony every morning watching the sky lighten and listening to the ocean. Akumal Caribe is a lovely, quiet reasonably priced hotel located directly on the beach. I have been coming to the beaches in this area for years and have become disappointed watching it all become loud, crowded and overpriced. ![]() This hotel is the one I've been searching for. ![]() Hilton Grand Vacations Club on the Las Vegas Strip. The Westin Reserva Conchal, an All-Inclusive Golf Resort & Spa.Hotels near Namaste Transportation & Tours.Hotels near Hekab Be Biblioteca de Akumal.Hotels near Turtle Snorkeling in Akumal.Adults Only and Adult Friendly Resorts Akumal.Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts in Akumal.
